Collaborative Response : Three Foundational Components That Transform How We Respond to the Needs of Learners

"Our greatest goal in education is to ensure equity while enhancing learning and ultimately achieving success for all students. And yet, it is impossible for every teacher alone to meet the extensive needs of all of the students in their classroom. The traditional model of schooling cannot provide for this complexity. The solution, the authors argue, is to take a collaborative approach, cultivated in a supportive environment, to meeting students' needs. There are three fundamental components of the model: Collaborative structures and processes; Data and evidence; and Continuum of supports. This framework is cultivated in a collaborative culture that prioritizes the needs of all students. The first two chapters provide the groundwork for this culture shift.
